DESCRIPTION:The main three temple where Thaipoosam is celebrated grandly: \n–> Batu Caves Murugan Temple – Kuala Lumpur\nThe Thaipusam festivities take place over three days. They start\nout in the wee hours of the morning (04:00) with a charriote\nprocession from Sri Mahamariamman Temple – Kuala Lumpur’s oldest\nHindu temple to Batu Caves.\nAfter two days at Batu Caves the procession returns to Sri\nMahamariamman Temple to mark the end of the festival. \n–>Thaipusam at Sri Subramaniar Temple in Gunung Cheroh\, Ipoh\nThe Chariot bearing the idol of Lord Murugan make its annual\njourney from Siri Maha Mariamman Temple at Buntong early morning\nat around 6am arriving at the Kalumallai Arulmigu Subramaniar\nTemple five hours later. \n–>Thaipusam at Penang\nThaipusam Eve – (6am-12midnight)\nLittle India to Jalan Dato Keramat\nThe ceremonial worship of Hindu’s celebrated deity\, Lord Muruga\nwill begin with a silver chariot procession led by kavadis adorned\nwith peacock features. The procession begins from Little India\n(6am) to the Nattukottai Chettiar Temple (ends at midnight). \nThaipusam Day Jan 17 (3am-9.30pm)\nSri Muthu Mariamman Temple to Waterfall Hilltop Temple\nReligiously performed on Thaipusam Day\, devotees will have their\nbodies pierced with hooks and spears as an act of penance. The\npiercing ceremony of the kavadi bearers will take place at the Sri\nMuthu Mariamman Temple on Lorong Kulit (beside Rapid Penang\noffice) from 3am onwards. The uphill journey to the new Arulmigu\nBalathandayuthapani Temple (Waterfall Hilltop Temple) will begin\nright after. The best time to view the kavadis is from 3pm\nonwards. The final and bigger kavadi will climb up to the temple\nat 9.30pm.

Photocopy of the Entry Form\n\nwill not be accepted. \n\nAttach the following supporting documents:\n\n\nPhotos of Temple Rajagopuram\, Gopuram\, Mahamandapam\, Balipeetham\, Madapalli (Kitchen)\, infrastructures such as office\, library\, counters\, toilets and surrounding areas;\nA copy of certificate of Registration or any document of registration;\nA copy of LMT  or DMT Certificate;\nAnnual Report for the year 2015;\nA brief history of the Temple in not more than 600 words either in Tamil or English;  and\nSend by hand/post by 30 December 2016 to Malaysia Hindu Sangam\, No.67\, Jalan PJS 1/48\, Taman Petaling Utama 7\, 46150 Petaling Jaya\, Selangor.\n\nTERMS & CONDITIONS\n\nEach temple is ONLY entitled to send ONE application.\nClosing Date is 31 December 2016.
