Pakatan Leaders met Hindu Religious Leaders regarding Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman Temple Issue

On 24th November, Pakatan leaders led by YB R.Sivarasah, YB Charles Santhiago, YB G.Gunaraj, Mr.Uthayasoorian, and Ms Sivamalar Genapathy met with Hindu leaders and members of Hindu Advisory Board, Sangaratna Datuk A.Vaithilingam, Sangapooshan Prof Dr Thilagawathi, and Sivapoosagar Shanmugam at Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) headquarters to discuss on the long pending dispute of Sri Maha Mariamman Temple, Seafield.
The main reason for the meeting was to work out a best and amicable solution in the best interest of all parties involved.
The history of the temple issue was discussed in detail. Datuk A.Vaithilingam, the then MHS President enlightened everyone about the early history of the dispute from the 1990s.
YB Sivarasah informed that arrangement is being made for YAB Menteri Besar Selangor to meet all the parties concerned including the new developer Ayala to discuss the possibilities of keeping the temple at its present spot.
Everyone present agreed that a meeting with YAB Menteri Besar Selangor should be arranged immediately. In the meantime, Datuk RS Mohan Shan was given the task to call for an immediate discussion with the new developer, Alaya to encourage the developer to adopt a co-existence approach and to exercise Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with the community so that the temple can remain as it is.
Meanwhile, the Hindu Advisory Board members have expressed their grave concern over the turn of event on the early morning of 26th November. The Board members from all prominent Hindu NGOs have requested the Hindus in this country to remain calm and let the law prevail.
