Former Menteri Besar Dr Mohd Khir Toyo said that the previous state government led by Barisan Nasional has played its part in solving the temple relocation issue in Shah Alam by providing a much strategic place located in Section 18.
Meanwhile, at a separate press conference, Hindu religious umbrella body Malaysian Hindu Sangam expressed their support for the temple being relocated at Section 23.
Hindu Sangam ready to meet residents, not protesters
The Hindu Sangam is willing to meet residents of Shah Alam’s Section 23 but not the protesters to thrash out matters surrounding the relocation of a 150-year-old temple to their neighbourhood. We don’t mind meeting any (one), but not to go and meet the protesters, especially the ones who have insulted the religion (by) carrying the cow’s head. Meanwhile, the president S Mohan urged the Hindus to remain calm.
