Malaysia Hindu Sangam Proposes Digital System to Streamline Temple Registration.
The Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) has proposed a digital registration system to simplify and centralize the management of Hindu temples across the country. The proposal was outlined in a memorandum submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s office following a town hall session held yesterday.
MHS Secretary S. Vinayagamurthi said the proposed system aims to address administrative challenges faced by temple committees by ensuring the systematic collection and management of accurate temple data.
“We have gathered input directly from temple committees nationwide, and the issues they face are consistent, ranging from unclear land status to difficulties in obtaining financial support,” Vinayagamurthi said during a press conference held after the seven-hour meeting, which drew more than 800 participants from various states.
The digital system is expected to be a centralized platform to log essential information such as temple location, land ownership, committee structures and operational status. According to MHS, having this data in one place will not only streamline registration but also pave the way for more efficient aid distribution and dispute resolution.
In addition to the digital registry, the memorandum also called for the establishment of a dedicated Hindu temple regulatory and registration body. This body, proposed to be jointly chaired by MHS and prominent Hindu NGOs, would oversee all temple related administrative matters, including conflicts and internal governance.
“This initiative is aimed at achieving long term solutions for land ownership and temple management issues. With proper oversight, we can avoid future disputes such as the recent relocation of the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman temple in Kuala Lumpur”, said Vinayagamurthi referring to the temple’s controversy.
Vinayamurthi stressed that formalising temple administration through this and proper regulation would allow the government to channel financial assistance more smoothly and transparently to Hindu temples in need.
“This is not just about registration. It’s about empowering temple committees and ensuring the preservation and respectful management of our places of worship, “ he said.
The Malaysia Hindu Sangam now awaits feedback and action from the Prime Minister’s Office with hopes that this initiative will gain official backing in the future.

The Malaysia Hindu Sangam (MHS) today reportedly submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) urging the formation of a regulatory body for Hindu temples nationwide.
According to a Malaysiakini report, the body is proposed to handle temple registration, land status, and dispute resolution.We want to make sure there’s good governance of temples,” MHS secretary-general Vinayagamoorthii was quoted as saying.
MHS also reportedly suggested a digital registration system to record temples’ details, including annual financial reports.The memorandum was reportedly handed to the PMO’s Shanmugam Mookan by MHS president T Ganesan during a town hall in Brickfields.
The town hall was called following backlash over the recent relocation of the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple in Jalan Masjid India to make way for a Madani Mosque.

இன்று கூட்டத்தில் கலந்து கொண்ட ஏராளமான கோவில் பொறுப்பாளர்கள் நிலப் பிரச்சினை குறித்து தங்களது மனக்குமுறல்களை கொட்டித் தீர்த்தனர்.தற்போது நாட்டில் நூறுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட ஆலயங்கள் அரசாங்கத்தின் திவால் இலாகா கீழ் உள்ளது.மேலும் பல முக்கிய ஆலயங்கள் சட்டப் பிரச்சனையை எதிர்நோக்கி நீதிமன்றத்தில் உள்ளது என்று அவர் சொன்னார்.இதற்கு எல்லாம் தீர்வு காண ஆலயங்கள் ஒருங்கிணைப்பு குழு அமைக்கப் பட வேண்டும்.
இதன் மூலம் ஆக்கப்பூர்வமான முறையில் இந்து ஆலயங்கள் பிரச்சனைக்கு தீர்வு காண முடியும் என்று அவர் நம்பிக்கை தெரிவித்தார்.தற்போது நாட்டில் 2,500 க்கும் மேற்பட்ட ஆலயங்கள் உள்ளன. இதில் அரசாங்கம் பதிவு பெற்ற ஆலயங்கள் ஆயிரம் இருக்கும்.நிலப்பிரச்சனை காரணமாக 1,500 ஆலயங்கள் பதிவு பெற முடியாமல் உள்ளது.
இருப்பினும் இந்த ஆலயங்கள் மலேசிய இந்து சங்கத்தில் பதிவு செய்துள்ளன என்று அவர் சொன்னார்.
